February Member Meeting

  • Terre Haute Parks & Recreation Department - Dobbs Park Dobbs Park Nature Center Terre Haute United States (map)

The Wabash Valley Audubon Society will host a hybrid Zoom and in-person meeting at 6:30 pm ET on Wednesday, February 16.

The WVAS learned about the Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge (169 sq. miles) from The Institute for Bird Populations (IBP) in early 2021, and subsequently donated funds to help the non-profit Amigos de la Tierra operate a MoSI (Monitoreo de Sobrevivencia Invernal = Monitoring Overwintering Survival) station at the only internationally registered tropical wetland area in Nicaragua. MoSI stations are key to helping understand the survivorship of North American neotropical birds that over-winter south of the United States. Steve Albert and Lauren Helton, both with IBP, will be leading the meeting (and interpreting) with the MoSI station operators live from Nicaragua.

The in-person "viewing party" will be at the Dobbs Memorial Park Nature Center, 5170 East Poplar St., Terre Haute. For those that want to meet virtually from the comfort of their home, the Zoom link is http://shorturl.at/mIJRX .

Please join us as we learn how the WVAS and IBP partner with the Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge MoSI station to help learn about our Indiana birds. All members and non-members are invited to this free program.
